The past few weeks have been so busy with the kids going to camp and Vacation Bible School that I haven't posted about the "Go Lucy Go" 5k that our family participated in back in May. I wouldn't have missed this event for anything. The Krull family means so much to us and everyone at this event.
For new blog readers:Lucy Krull, one of our dearest friends, was diagnosed with brain cancer (medullablastoma) in February. Since her diagnosis, our community (and people all over the world) have rallied around Lucy and her family in prayer and support as Lucy has undergone surgery and begun radiation treatments at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. If you have not read Lucy's story, please visit http://www.erikandkatekrull.blogspot.com/ to keep updated on Lucy's progress as she fights brain cancer. Be ready to be inspired by Lucy and her family's faith!
Have you ever left somewhere and thought...."I really am glad I went!" My heart had never felt so much love and compassion as it did that Saturday morning. I was really wanting to run/walk the 5K but knew that my buddies needed me to actually "work" it instead. It was a huge success! The money raised went to Le Bonheur and the Krull family. Hank walked the 5K and the boys ran the "Kids Fun Run." The boys even got "Go Lucy Go" medals. I on the other hand got to experience for the first time face painting. Me and my friend, Leslie Roane, got lots of experience that day. We may just open our own business! LOL!
We were so happy that Lucy was there to see all of the racers as they lined South College Street at Covington High School! It was such a special moment when the crowd cheered, "Go Lucy Go!", before the start of the race. It's one of the race moments we'll never forget. Please continue to pray for Lucy because she started her chemo this past week.
These girls are who pulled the 5K together!
