Corn!

Every year, my dear friend Hope tells me to come pick corn in their field and I always find excuses not to get out in the heat and shuck corn. But this year I decided we would go on what I would say an adventure! Well Cade Carter thought being in a corn field was pretty scary, it reminded him of the movie "Children of the Corn." I thought that movie was from 25 years ago-the child watches way to much tv! Well after he overcome his fear of the corn field we ended up picking around 100 ears and putting them up in the freezer. It was a big job, but glad we got it done! By the way, the sweet corn is awesome. Thanks Michael & Hope!!

Kindergarten Round-Up

Ok-this is the part where I start crying...Cam went to Kindergarten round up last week. He is officially on his way to Kindergarten. He had to dress up as a cowboy. This is the same shirt and cowboy hat Cade Carter wore (sob, sob) when he went to Round Up. This hat (which is a true Stetson) was Chance's when he used to ride horses at this age. Chance was a REAL cowboy! This outfit has HISTORY! (boo hoo!) Cam went for a few hours and got to know the teachers and see what the classes were like. He said he liked it. (thank goodness!)
I've never bought wranglers for my boys, but I couldn't resist these! He's a Wrangler Man!

Let our garden grow!

This year Cam asked me if we could plant a garden. He loves to farm so I thought we could at least try it and see if we have any luck at it. Of course, I know nothing about gardening. I know you have to water it every day and that's about it. The playground area seemed like a good place to start since we are getting real close to moving the swingset back in the woods where the tree house is located, so we will have this whole area to work with next year. So we planted our seeds in a small area on the playground. Every night Cam and I would water our seeds. I really thought we wouldn't have any luck and then one day we started seeing the plants come up. Talk about zucchinni and squash! Well we've got them. It has been truly miraculous to watch these vegetables grow. I've even learned a little about them. Of course I had to go pick up a book on gardening because next year I want to be ready and EXPAND.

PS We did plant carrots, but they never came up???? We should have some pumpkins come October if any one wants any!!!

Cam being a big help with his watering every night!

Paradise!

This place is true paradise. If you have never been here, you are missing out on a great opportunity to see this man made pool that is made to look like a lake with waterfalls, rocks and a rope to swing on. Brent and Bailey Howard had their birthday party here at the Thornton's Pool right outside of Covington. It was truly amazing.

Cam even swung off the rope. I think they said that this area of the pool is 25 ft deep. As you can see he had his life jacket on.

Cade Carter thought he was Tarzan!

Napping

On our way home from the beach, I couldn't help but snap this adorable pic of Cam napping. The boys had a great time and naps were very important on the trip if you know what I mean because they always seemed to wear themselves out! No nap=head rotating and spitting up green stuff!!!! LOL!
