Go Lucy Go 5K

The past few weeks have been so busy with the kids going to camp and Vacation Bible School that I haven't posted about the "Go Lucy Go" 5k that our family participated in back in May.  I wouldn't have missed this event for anything.  The Krull family means so much to us and everyone at this event.
For new blog readers:Lucy Krull, one of our dearest friends, was diagnosed with brain cancer (medullablastoma) in February. Since her diagnosis, our community (and people all over the world) have rallied around Lucy and her family in prayer and support as Lucy has undergone surgery and begun radiation treatments at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. If you have not read Lucy's story, please visit http://www.erikandkatekrull.blogspot.com/ to keep updated on Lucy's progress as she fights brain cancer. Be ready to be inspired by Lucy and her family's faith!

Have you ever left somewhere and thought...."I really am glad I went!"  My heart had never felt so much love and compassion as it did that Saturday morning.  I was really wanting to run/walk the 5K but knew that my buddies needed me to actually "work" it instead.  It was a huge success!  The money raised went to Le Bonheur and the Krull family.  Hank walked the 5K and the boys ran the "Kids Fun Run."  The boys even got "Go Lucy Go" medals.  I on the other hand got to experience for the first time face painting.  Me and my friend, Leslie Roane, got lots of experience that day.  We may just open our own business!  LOL!

We were so happy that Lucy was there to see all of the racers as they lined South College Street at Covington High School! It was such a special moment when the crowd cheered, "Go Lucy Go!", before the start of the race. It's one of the race moments we'll never forget. Please continue to pray for Lucy because she started her chemo this past week.

These girls are who pulled the 5K together!

Memorial Day Weekend

He's a keeper!

Teresa made me hold this yucky fish!
Crappie Fishing

Memorial Day weekend was spent at Sardis Lake.  We finally got to get out on the water and swim a little and fish a little.  We had a great time soaking up the sun and just relaxing.  It was much needed.  I was just telling a friend of mine that I feel like my life is the song "Living, Fast Forward" by Kenny Chesney.  It seems as if we are on the go every night with ball and never any time to rest and just "CHILL." I do not like to lead our life like this.  I feel like everything is put on the back burner and the more important things are being ignored.  We need rest.  We need a schedule...I'm going crazy without one.
My boys are extremely ready for ball season to be over.  They both declined to be nominated for All Stars this year.  I was a little disappointed, but considering the hot weather and the boys attitude-it was fine by us! We have had a lot of UPS and DOWNS this year at the ball field.  It's somewhat put a bad "taste" in my mouth-but I will not put my "dirty laundry" out on this blog.  I'm just glad it's over and the boys deciding not to continue playing was more of a blessing.  Both boys had excellent coaches and I am so grateful for that!

The summer has not only started out busy but EXTREMELY HOT.  Record breaking heat since 1953.  UGH!  The boys went to Charger Baseball Camp in this nasty heat last week and this week they are both attending Camp Invention.  (at least it's inside) This will be Cade Carter's last year to attend since he is going into the Middle School.  BOO HOO!  We are just trying to keep the boys busy...As Hank says.."they are not sitting in the house all summer sucking up the air conditioner and eating bon bon's all day."  Gotta Love him...

I'm always runnin'
Son of a gunnin'
I've had a good time it's true
But the way I've been goin'
It's time that I toned it
Down just a notch or two

Oh yeah ...

Well I'm living in fast forward

A hillbilly rock star (crazy mom) out of control
I'm living in fast forward
Now I need to rewind real slow

Yeah I need to rewind real slow
Yeah I still got some miles to go

Napping...

I found this kid in MY BED napping one Sunday afternoon...with my eye mask on!  Who does he think he is?
"By wisdom a house is built,
by understanding it is established,
and by knowledge the
rooms are filled
with all precious
and pleansant riches."
