I am in charge of Courtney Wilson's candy bar at her wedding in June. For those who are not familiar with candy bars at weddings, it is basically a display set up of different candies etc-usually themed in the same color as the wedding for guests to bag up and take home. (What will they come up with next?) This has been a very fun project to put together. Her main color is purple so I've incorporated lots of purple, pink and white. Hopefully come June I will have it all completed...the hardest part is unwrapping all the candy canes! More pics to come!

National Day of Prayer
May 4th was National Day of Prayer. Several gathered on the court house lawn and had prayer on many topics-the one that moved me the most was the topic of education. Different dignitaries of the community prayed on different topics. Just to name a few, my boss, Mr. Charles Ennis prayed for our local businesses-while Mr. John Earl Wells (my elementary principal) prayed for our education. It was definitely a peaceful moment with God.
God Bless America!
Cam and his buddy Madie
Hollie Rose & I swapped kids last weekend...she was kind enough to take Cade Carter to a birthday party while I stayed at home and catch up on some painting. Madie & Cam played very well together! She was a delight to have over-not used to little girls...but she hung right in there with Cam...dirt and all!

The End of the School Year
These two kindergartners have had an awesome last two weeks of school in Ms. Kelli's class. Slade Simpson & Cam had field day (check out Cam's shirt-it says "Field Day Rocks!" Love it!
I remember the 1st day of Kindergarten when I told Ms Kelli that Cam can be a little bit of a handful. (At least he is with Hank and I) Ms Kelli's conduct sheets consisted of a red light, yellow light and green light-green light being great, yellow being warned and red is BAD!! Cam only got one yellow light all year because him, Slade and Hunter Elder were play fighting on the playground. Ms Kelli told me she never had any trouble with him...So why do we then? Why is it that kids do that to us?
Each of my boys had Kelli Cousar as a kindergarten teacher. Kelli is what I call a TRUE teacher. She takes her job seriously and she is bound and determined for the kiddos to be ready for 1st grade. When Cade Carter was in kindergarten in 2006, they touched a little on reading...but times have changed since then and it's a requirement for them to read in kindergarten. I can honestly say that Cam is reading thanks to Ms. Kelli...I also now have both boys memory books from kindergarten thanks to Kelli! We love you Ms. Kelli very much and she will always have a special place in my boys hearts because she was their first elementary teacher!
The boys got their report cards and they both had a terrific year. Cam got pretty much all pluses on his report card and Cade Carter made straight "A's" all year through in the 3rd grade. I have to admit he is very studious when it comes to school. He loves to read! He always wants me to take him to BooksAMillion in Jackson and he literally goes crazy picking out all the science fiction books they have. Hank cannot believe that he loves to read...Cade Carter definitely takes that from me "Not Hank!" Hank does not enjoy reading at all-unless it's Sports Illustrated! Cade Carter's favorite new website is Amazon.com where he can order used books very inexpensive...and then there's Cam whoHATES, despises dislikes reading all together (but he can read when Ms Kelli asks him) My two very different little boys...Wow!
Here's a few pics from the last day of school! I don't remember having this much fun in school-do you?

Lemon Meringue Ice Box Pie
This is an all time favorite "Glenn" recipe...
1 pie crust
1/2 c lemon juice
3 egg yolks (save the whites for the meringue)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Mix together lemon juice, yolks and condensed milk. Pour into baked pie shell (I use deep dish pie crust)
For the Meringue:
Bring the 3 egg whites to room temperature. Beat with mixer for 3 minutes until it reaches soft peaks. Add 3 T sugar and 1/4 tsp of cream of tarter. Continue to beat until light and fluffy. Spread evenly on top of pie and broil in oven to brown the top of the meringue. Watch closely-hint: I keep my oven door cracked and peak in at it as it is browning on top!! Don't let it burn!

Redneck Boys of Gift!
These boys went (as Cam would say) Muddoggin' this past Sunday. They all were covered in mud-but as you can see fun was had by all!

Cam riding the tractor with DiDi
Dustin did a little yard work for me with his tractor (isn't that what brothers are for?) Cam got a free ride! Dustin-you are the best!!!

Was that a cougar?
As the boys and I were going to school last week, something ran across in front of the car. We were on Hwy 54 just 1/2 mile from the house and I could see something running (very light in color-much lighter than this pic) about to approach the road and cross...(No it wasn't a deer!) It loped across the road towards the bridge and disappeared in the bushes/stream where I couldn't see it anymore. It was very FAST! The first question Hank asked me WHEN I called him on his cell was "did it have a tail?" I don't remember-it was to far away and I'm just not that observant. My description to Hank was that it had "short legs, long body and very LIGHT in color...Much lighter than a deer. I think it was a cougar, otherwise know as "the mountain lion." I got on the Internet and pulled up pics...this is the closest one that fits the description b/c of it loping and as you can see-short legs, long body...I just don't remember the dang tail!!!!! And IF it was a bob cat-it was the biggest bob cat ever!
FYI Since this discovery last week-it's now a proven fact that there are cougars in Lauderdale County close to the Mississippi (around Chisolm Lake) They are attacking geese on lakes and eating them. You cannot kill these animals-unless of course, they cause bodily harm. They are dangerous...now I'm worried about the boys playing outside...

Knowledge Bowl
Both Camden & Cade Carter participated in the Knowledge Bowl this year at Crestview. It was ironic they both were chosen for their grade at the same time. They hold a Knowledge Bowl in the Fall and the Spring. They both did great. Cam's grade came in 2nd! Yahoo!
Mother's Day Weekend
Before and After Pics of my Mother's Day Present
I've had this 6 ft swing in my garage for about 3 years now...for Mother's Day this year my wish was to have it put up and hung from a Pergola.
Bless Hank's heart...he granted my wish...
with his own hands...
Paw Paw seems to be enjoying it!
Still gotta add some trim, another coat of paint-but almost completed! Will post the final pic hopefully in a few weeks!!!
FLOOD May 1st 2010
Our backyard when we woke up this morning...
Another Hydratrek saving an elder man from his car at Walgreens.
A bulldozer under water on Ripley St. beside where the city trash is buried.
If you look real close, I do believe that's our buddy Nelson in the Hydratrek helping people!
Bride Rd.
We have not had a flood like this since 1937 (1939) anyways, it's been a long time. Several people were evacuated from their homes and lost everything. The Nashville area was hit the worst. We will continue to pray for the ones who were not as lucky.
Our roof leaked in several spots but that is nothing compared to the loss of what others experienced.
Don't Laugh-he's definitely MY SON!
If you examined the pics correctly-yes he is grinding coffee beans into coffee. What can I say, he's my son!!
My New Sidewalk!
We finally got our sidewalk in the back yard...it took 6 years...but oh well, we can't always get what we want RIGHT then anyways, right? Now for the landscaping!
