Cade Carter's Art

Cade Carter gave Papa Sam is belated birthday present, a patriotic picture! Just what Papa Sam would like!  Papa Sam was in the Vietnam War and Cade Carter know how important Patriotism is to him.  I think he liked it!

The fruit picture was Cade Carter's first oil painting.  I display it in my kitchen   "So Proudly!"

There's an artist in the family...

Ever since Cade Carter was little he's always liked to draw and color.  As he got in elementary school, he took art and began to win little awards here and there.  I honestly thought, he's a great drawer but never pursued it with private lessons.  I honestly think Hank wanted him to play ball and "art was for girls!"  He never said that but I can read him pretty WELL.  One day Cade Carter told me he was drawing a picture at school of New York City (Cade Carter was in 1st grade at the time) When he brought it home, I was so amazed at his artistic ability.  I framed the picture and hung it in Hank's office.  We were all so proud of him.

Recently, Cade Carter's friend, Gunner, told him about his art lessons.  Cade Carter rushed home to tell me one day that "Gunner's in Art."  Ms. Barbara McBride of Covington is a local art teacher who is amazing!  I told Cade Carter that if he would bring up his reading grade, we would allow him to take lessons from her.  Well he raised his grade!

The moral to this story is....look within your child for his/her own talent...you never know what you might find within them.  (REGARDLESS OF BOY OR GIRL!)

Our Backyard Park

The sign reads..."deer crossing."
We were taking down the swing set a few weeks ago and was about to burn it, when we decided to move it behind our house where the tree house sits. We've had the swing set since Cade Carter was one and it's about to fall apart. Well, it's still up for now. Now we just need some park benches and maybe possibly a hammock-and we will be set! Hank and Mr. Jimmy Rose finally got the window in the tree house. Hopefully we can get out there next weekend and tidy it up with some more paint. The boys want Hank to build a bunk in it so they can sleep in it at night...I just don't see that happening quite yet. The coyotes can get pretty loud back there. If anyone has any cool ideas on how to decorate and make it a "man cave" for the boys, please do tell...They want me to fix it up inside but I'M CLUELESS!

Car vs SUV

Hank's old car...IT'S GONE!!!!!!!!!!

Ever since Hank got out of the car business I do not have the luxury of driving a new car like I used too.  It's really not a big deal, but Hank always got me pretty much what I wanted since he was the Master of all Salesmen....I am such a "Ford" kinda girl. I can't explain why except that Hank started out selling Fords at the age of 21 and brainwashed me that they are the best in quality.  Before I got my Expedition, I sat in a Tahoe just to see if I'd like it and I just couldn't get comfy in it.   Maybe it's because I'm so short and I have to have the pedals that come out by a push of a button...IDK?? So I settled with my 3rd Expedition a couple of years ago.

Recently I was booted out of my Expo by dear hubby due to the excessive baseball equipment that is being hauled in the back of my vehicle.  Hank would say, "just take my car....so I'll have the equipment for the boys so we can go to the field for practice."  I really didn't mind it at first, until I hit my head getting out of his car as I bruised my leg trying to get out of it.  (It sits very low!) After a few times in it, I finally told him, you got to get a new car...I can't tolerate the bruising and not being able to reach the gas. I don't care if you buy a  PINTO-do something soon.  After lots of bitching complaining, he finally bit the bullet and bought a Ford Edge.  The car before was a Chevrolet Impala-did I mention it sucked was not a good car for our family.  LOL ! Me and cars just don't mix very well.  Check out the before and after...

Why can't I have a Green Thumb?

Last Fall around November 1st, I planted 100 tulip bulbs around my house.  I spent hours using that little gadget tool I bought for planting bulbs.  I put some very tiring hours into that little project.  Well guess how many actually came up this spring in my yard?  N-O-N-E!!!!  What did I do wrong?  Again, I do not have a green thumb but dang, that was some work!

On a good note, right outside my door at work is an awesome view of hundreds of tulips that I can see every day.  Are they not just beautiful! I have never seen the court house look so beautiful in the Spring.  It's a shame that tulips only last a few weeks.  I love working on the square and getting a great view of the tulips.  Maybe next year they will finally grow in my yard...Until next year!

by understanding it is established,
and by knowledge the
rooms are filled
with all precious
